Ecosystem Services from Green Space

This page provides the abstract and slides from a presentation titled “A Systematic Review of Ecosystem Services from Green Space” presented at the National Conference on Ecosystem Restoration (Baltimore, Maryland, USA, August 1-5, 2011).

“Green Space” refers to residential lawns, commercial or institutional turf surfaces and public facilities such as parks and playing fields.

“Ecosystem Services” are the benefits people obtain from the environment, including not only natural resources, but also food crops, climate and disease control and recreational benefits.  An important feature of ecosystem services studies is that they attempt to quantitate the benefits provided.
