US EPA Affirms Safety of Widely Used Herbicide 2,4-D

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on April 16, 2012, denied a petition filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) requesting that EPA cancel all product registrations for the widely used herbicide 2,4-D. EPA stated that it had reviewed all the studies submitted by NRDC and had conducted its own comprehensive review. Based on the all of the data available, EPA concluded that current tolerances (uses) are safe.
